💼 Freshman Seminar students at Mills High School had the chance to practice real‑world skills in mock job interviews with volunteers from the Pulaski County Bar Association.
📝 Students prepared resumes, learned interview strategies, and put their new skills into action. The volunteers were impressed with their professionalism and potential!
🙌 A big thank‑you to the volunteers for investing their time to help our scholars prepare for future success.

“Music teachers don’t just create musicians — they build confidence, creativity, and a lifelong love for the art of sound.”

Mrs. Cojocaru, our Orchestra teacher, does an amazing job with her scholars. She inspires them to come in early to practice, as well as inspires them to give their best every time they are in Orchestra class!

We look forward to seeing our scholars perform!

👕 Tomorrow is AVID Wednesday! 📣
This week, we’re spotlighting Mrs. Stephanie DeWitt’s kindergarten class at William Jefferson Clinton Elementary. Students recently completed an AVID jigsaw activity on story elements. Each group became “experts” on characters, setting, beginning, middle, or end, and then taught their classmates what they learned.

“It’s been wonderful watching them collaborate, think critically, and deepen their understanding of how stories work! Way to go, scholars,” Mrs. DeWitt shared.

Don’t forget to wear your AVID shirts tomorrow, celebrate student success, and keep building those college and career ready skills!

Bus Driver Safety Awareness Week spotlight 🚌 Lillard Brockette has been driving for the Mills Middle, MUSHS, and Landmark for 15 years. He says he became a bus driver for the income but stayed because of his love for the kids and the job.
🌊 When he’s not driving, Lillard enjoys going to the beach and relaxing.
🗣 “Some days it’s tough since we are so short on drivers, but seeing the students’ smiles and the gratitude of some make it all worth it,” Lillard said.
Want to make a difference like these incredible drivers? 👉 Apply to be a bus driver at PCSSD: https://pcssd.schoolspring.com/

Happy National Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15, 2025 - October 15, 2025)

At Comet Nation we recognize and celebrate our wonderfully diverse cultures every day. However we'd like to shout Ms. Billingsley's Art Class scholars for their wonderful Hispanic Heritage Bobbleheads and poster this year.

Scholars participated in a Hispanic Heritage Bobblehead Project, where they selected an influential Hispanic figure from a provided list. Each scholar created a bobblehead portrait representing that person and included a biography highlighting their life, accomplishments, and cultural impact.

After completing their individual projects, scholars worked together on a collaborative poster. Each scholar followed a color key to complete a section of a large coloring page, which combined into one unified mural representing our celebration of Hispanic culture and creativity.

The 5-time boys basketball champions of Comet Nation have entered a new Galaxy. Dozens walked through the arena for the first time today and learned the building will be named after Coach Raymond A Cooper, who led Mills University Studies High School to state titles in 2017, 2020, 2021, and 2025. Some of those players made a basket with students today.. Here are the top ten pictures from the event. #PCSSDproud #ServeAll

Reminder!
💙 Mills Middle School is proud to celebrate National Bullying Prevention Day! 💙

Today, our students and staff are showing unity by wearing blue — a symbol of peace, support, and kindness. This year’s theme, “Let Kindness Ripple in Blue,” reminds us that every small act of kindness creates a wave that can change our school, our community, and our world. 🌊✨

Together, we stand against bullying and for inclusion, respect, and empathy. Let’s keep the ripple going — one kind act at a time! 💫
