This is an APPRECIATION POST!
As our first semester comes to a close we wanted to take a moment to both recognize and express gratitude for our instructional leader, Dr. E. Lisa Watson! We see and are inspired by your commitment to the betterment of every scholar here at Comet Nation. You personally have cooked the meals that our scholars eat during the MMS accelerated camp (after school tutoring). In fact, a few weeks ago when you weren't able to participate and enlisted the help of another (for that day) you were told that a scholar when noticing that he was being served pizza exclaimed, "Where is Dr. Watson, she cooks for us!" When there is no one to serve in our concession booth for our athletic games, Dr. Watson is there cooking and serving all of our attendees.
You inspire each of us to consider our place on the Comet Nation bus and what we are to move this bus forward "to meet the personalized academic and social needs of all scholars and to prepare them for success." You greet, encourage and support each and every one of us and for these things and so much more we are grateful for you! Keep keeping the light on and know that all your love is not in vain! #millsmiddleschoolcomets #servingscholars #commitment #love #thebestisyettocome #pcssdproud
MMS AVID 7th Grade Scholars volunteered at the Arkansas Foodbank earlier this week. They sorted and bagged nearly 400 5lb bags of sweet potatoes. Learned about the work of the Arkansas Foodbank and made a contribution to serving some of the hungry and needy in Arkansas. #arkansasfoodbank #millsmiddleschoolcomets #volunteer #service #hope

The goal of AVID Excel is “to change the trajectory of long-term English learners by accelerating language acquisition, developing literacy, and placing AVID Excel students on the path to high school AVID and college preparatory coursework. #avidexcel #expertgroups #thinkpairshare #millsmiddlschoolcomets #thebestisyettocome #pcssdproud
AVID Tutorials are the cornerstone of the AVID Elective where scholars in small groups facilitated by a tutor or peer tutor ask questions to help each other remediate or solve points of confusion experienced in their coursework. Here's Mr. Boaitey's 7th Grade AVID class launching tutorials with a scholar presenting to the group his initial question and how he solved it. #avid #avidtutorials #learningisrequiredhere #millsmiddleschoolcomets #thebestisyettocome #pcssdproud
