Looking ahead, temperatures will not get above freezing for the next 24 hours or more. Due to the expected continued precipitation, it is likely that roads will have icy patches for awhile. Therefore, PCSSD schools and offices will not be open tomorrow (Wednesday, February 19).

February is National Children's Dental Health Month. Take time to encourage sweet and healthy smiles by instilling healthy habits like brushing twice a day and limiting sugary beverages. #pcssdproud #serveall

We apologize for the frustration from Monday’s duplicated phone calls. Please read the statement from Apptegy (our notification system provider) regarding the callouts:

Good afternoon! Due to the anticipated inclement weather entering central Arkansas tomorrow, PCSSD will dismiss early on Tuesday. Elementary schools will dismiss at 11:30 a.m. and secondary schools will dismiss at 12:30 p.m. District offices will also close at 12:30 p.m. There will not be any after school activities, including aftercare. Sack lunches will be provided for those who need lunch. PCSSD will continue to monitor the weather and will make adjustments if needed. Thank you.

In celebration of Black History Month, we were inspired to highlight our African American Comets at Mills Middle School. Today we are celebrating Officer Bolden!
Officer Bolden has been in the educational system for 8 years. His favorite part about working at Mills Middle School is being able to build relationships with scholars and being a positive role model for our young men!
Outside of school, Officer Bo Coaches a 7 vs. 7 football team, manages a 5 vs. 5 football league, trains athletes, cooks, and spends time with his daughter and son.
Someone who inspires him is his previous coach, George Shelter. Mr. Shelter taught him a way to make money outside of playing football. His quote was "As long as you do right by kids, you'll forever have a job in the school system."
Officer Bo is essential to our building, scholars, teachers, and staff and WE APPRECIATE HIM!
